Who we are
South Plaza Neighborhood is a diverse community that includes single family homes, high rise condos, multi-family rental communities, 28 + restaurants, a Whole Foods, a CVS, banks, hotels, tennis courts, a great library and many blocks of Plaza retail stores. Brush Creek flows through the midst of us, providing a lovely venue for romantic strolls, great work outs and a beautiful place to watch a sunset. Sandwiched between Loose Park and UMKC, and just steps away from the Nelson-Atkins and Kemper Museums, the South Plaza area is brimming with exciting things to do and see.
South Plaza Neighborhood Association (SPNA) is one of Kansas City's oldest neighborhood groups. Residents who wanted to represent their concerns first organized in the 1960s. SPNA was incorporated and received its 501(c)3 tax exempt status from the IRS in 1996.
